As an organization dedicated to student success, we share in the frustrations of many that students of limited financial means have less access to paid services that can help them accomplish their goals. We are thus excited to announce the 2019 round of the Moser Opportunity Scholarship Program: an all-expenses-paid, one-on-one test preparation course for students from lower-income families who demonstrate academic potential and strong motivation to pursue a four-year college degree.

The program offers recipients an extended test-preparation course, which will make them more confident testers, stronger students, and more attractive candidates for college admission and merit-based scholarships.

Who: The 2019 program is open to students graduating in 2020 with a combined family income of not more than $60,000 per year. Applicants should demonstrate strong academic performance and motivation and must submit their current GPA and a previous official SAT or ACT score.

What: Scholarship recipients will meet one-on-one with an instructor, covering test taking strategies, time management techniques, tools for approaching specific question types, and content review of academic material. In between 90 minute to 2 hour sessions, students will be expected to compete homework assignments to practice the skills they have learned in class.

When: Recipients will be announced on June 28, and will begin their sessions in late July, meeting with an instructor approximately once per week for 90 minutes to 2 hours per session until they take their tests in the fall.

Where: Instructors will meet students in-person at a mutually agreed location convenient to the student, or may meet remotely with students outside the Denver area.

How: Students interested in applying to the program can complete an application and essay here. Applications are to be completed by the student and essays written in the student’s own words, though parents, teachers, and counselors are encouraged to facilitate the process while leaving the student in control of responses.

Why: Because we believe that every student can grow, and our mission to foster that growth extends to students of every type, regardless of their financial situation.
