Expert Tutor and Academic Coach – STEM & College Entrance Exam Prep

Join Moser Educational Services as an Expert Tutor and Academic Coach! In this role, you will lead one-on-one and small group classes and be trained to teach our unique curriculum to help high school students achieve their highest possible SAT and/or ACT scores. You will also provide tutoring in subject-specific areas (for example, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, etc.) based on your credentials and experience.

We seek dynamic, engaging, professional teachers with the ability to relate to and motivate high school students. Candidates must possess strong academic credentials across STEM and humanities disciplines and have an official SAT or ACT score at or above the 90th percentile mark or be able to currently score at this level on an exam administered during the hiring interview.

The position involves meeting Denver metro area students in their homes, libraries, coffee shops, etc. to teach one-on-one and small group sessions. Successful candidates are independent, professional, and driven. Instructors are expected to meet students when they are not in school, meaning approximately 25-30 hours per week of teaching between the hours of 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM on weekdays and 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM on weekends.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery of Curriculum:

  • High energy level and ability to relate to high school students
  • Comfort teaching one-on-one in close quarters at private residences, schools, libraries, and other venues
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Professional demeanor and comfort level managing relationships with demanding clients
  • Ability to learn our curriculum and strategies quickly
  • Receive and respond to ongoing training, development, and feedback

Student Service:

  • Mentor students of all levels to achieve their highest potential
  • Respond to student-related issues as they arise

Administrative Matters:

  • Be responsible for managing your own schedule
  • Coordinate time and location of student meetings
  • Travel to student homes located across the Denver metro area
  • Provide regular communication with parents regarding student progress

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 90th percentile score on SAT or ACT or Ability to currently score at or above this level
  • Ability to travel across the greater Denver metro area
  • Willingness to commit to a full-time schedule, working afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • Previous training/teaching experience
  • Strong Mathematics and/or Science background (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with college entrance exams (i.e., ACT, SAT)

Compensation:

This is a full-time position. Instructors are expected to teach between 1,000 and 1,500 hours annually. Starting hourly pay of $45—$50 per client contact hour. Additional compensation in the form of mileage reimbursement, project pay, and an annual performance bonus. Total annual compensation target of $55,000—$85,000 based on experience and how much you want to teach! Substantial (unpaid) vacation opportunities for those who value extended vacation time, up to 2.5 months per year. We also offer a 401k program with a 5% employer match after one year of full-time service.
